Culpeper Literacy Council

About Us
Our Mission:

The mission of Culpeper Literacy Council is to promote, coordinate and facilitate planning and development of literacy services for adults 18 years of age or older in the Culpeper community.

Our History:

Originally started in January of 1987, Culpeper Literacy Council was established as non-profit in 1989 and has been a successful resource for adult education for 22 years.

Our Services:

Culpeper Literacy Council provides classes for students who wish to learn English, obtain a GED, or learn about United States Citizenship.  Free one-on-one tutoring to adults who want to learn to read, improve basic skills and obtain a GED is also provided. In addition, CLC offers employability skills training and support in the form of monthly workshops.

To enroll in the CLC program, an adult learner needs to contact the office to make an appointment for registration and assessment.  Once registered and assessed (through our standardized placement test), adult learners will have the opportunity to enroll in CLC classes or will be paired with a tutor for individual instruction. Although instruction and educational materials are provided free of charge, a one-time registration fee of $25.00 is required at the time of assessment (payable to Culpeper Literacy Council). Sorry- no checks will be accepted.

For a complete list of classes currently being offered, please visit our "Class Schedule" section.
